About the Conference

The Western Carolina University School of Music, a part of the David Orr Belcher College of Fine and Performing Arts, welcomes saxophonists, educators, and enthusiasts of all ages to attend the 2019 Region 7 Conference of the North American Saxophone Alliance. The conference will feature performances, competitions, masterclasses and clinics, lectures and pedagogical presentations on topics related to the instrument, as well as offering opportunities to visit with other saxophonists and with vendors. We hope to see you and your students in Cullowhee in March!

About the host venue

PROPOSALS

We invite all members of the North American Alliance to submit proposals to perform and teach at the 2019 Region 7 Conference. Priority will be given to Region 7 members, but every effort will be made to accommodate all proposals. Student performers are encouraged to apply.
Concerto proposals are now closed.
​All other proposals must be submitted by 7 JANUARY 2019.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTS

masterclasses

Student and Youth members of NASA are able to propose performances/presentations using the proposal links above, but are especially encouraged to apply to perform in a masterclass setting using the link below. If you are one of NASA's many great artist-teachers, you are strongly encouraged to apply to lead a masterclass using the "lecture/pedagogy proposal" link above.

competitions

We invite young saxophonists to participate in solo performance competitions to be held in conjunction with the 2019 Region 7 Conference. Saxophonists who will be 18 or younger as of 10 March 2019 are invited to compete in the High School Solo Competition, and saxophonists aged 24 or younger as of 10 March 2019 are invited to compete in the Young Artist Competition. 
Competition applications are due by 21 January 2019. 
There will be a $40 competition fee due with your application.
